I am very distressed to find
that you have not as yot had any acknowledgment of your letter of the 30th July in hich you told me that the Rhodes Trustees had generously agreed to offer a Scholarship to assist some student of Chinese nationality or Chinese British subject to come to Oxford.
I am afraid that your letter got put on one side for a few days as I wanted to talk about it to Cox and I hope you will not think that my delay in acknowledging has been due to any lack of appreciation of the generosity of the Rhodes Trustees. shall be grateful if you will express to them my grateful app reci .tion for their action.
